How to pay with XRP on XRP Ledger
From your own wallet
- 01Make sure your wallet holds enough XRP for the amount plus the network fee (a fraction of a cent).
- 02On the payment page, choose XRP on XRP Ledger and keep the page open.
- 03In Xaman (or any XRP wallet), tap Send and choose XRP.
- 04Scan the QR code for the address (or copy it), then type the amount from the page yourself.
- 05Enter the destination tag shown on the payment page. It’s required: without it the payment can’t be matched.
- 06Check the first and last 4 characters of the address (Starts with r, plus a destination tag) and that the amount matches to the last digit.
- 07Confirm the transfer.
- 08Keep the page open. It updates itself: “Payment seen” first, then “Paid” after a few seconds.
From an exchange
- 01On the payment page, choose XRP on XRP Ledger, then press “Paying from an exchange?”. You get an address-only QR code and copy buttons.
- 02In your exchange, open Withdraw (sometimes “Send”) and choose XRP.
- 03For the network, choose XRP or XRP Ledger. This is the step most mistakes happen in.
- 04Paste the address, then the destination tag from the payment page into the exchange’s Tag or Memo field. It’s required.
- 05For the amount, enter the amount due plus the exchange’s withdrawal fee, so the full amount arrives. The fee helper below does the sum. If the form shows “You will receive”, make that equal the amount due.
- 06Confirm with your 2FA code or email link. Exchanges can hold a withdrawal for a few minutes, sometimes longer for a first withdrawal to a new address.
Common mistakes
- Leaving out the destination tag. Without it the payment can’t be matched to your order.
