How to pay with BCH on Bitcoin Cash
From your own wallet
- 01Make sure your wallet holds enough BCH for the amount plus the network fee (under 1 cent).
- 02On the payment page, choose BCH on Bitcoin Cash and keep the page open.
- 03In Electron Cash (or any Bitcoin Cash wallet), tap Send and choose BCH.
- 04Scan the QR code for the address (or copy it), then type the amount from the page yourself.
- 05Type the amount exactly, to the last digit. For most coins the last digits are unique to your order.
- 06Check the first and last 4 characters of the address (A Bitcoin Cash address, often starts with q or bitcoincash:) and that the amount matches to the last digit.
- 07Confirm the transfer.
- 08Keep the page open. It updates itself: “Payment seen” first, then “Paid” after about 10 to 20 minutes.
From an exchange
- 01On the payment page, choose BCH on Bitcoin Cash, then press “Paying from an exchange?”. You get an address-only QR code and copy buttons.
- 02In your exchange, open Withdraw (sometimes “Send”) and choose BCH.
- 03For the network, choose Bitcoin Cash or BCH. This is the step most mistakes happen in.
- 04Paste the address. Exchanges sometimes ask for a memo or tag: leave it empty, this address doesn’t need one.
- 05For the amount, enter the amount due plus the exchange’s withdrawal fee, so the full amount arrives. The fee helper below does the sum. If the form shows “You will receive”, make that equal the amount due.
- 06Confirm with your 2FA code or email link. Exchanges can hold a withdrawal for a few minutes, sometimes longer for a first withdrawal to a new address.
Common mistakes
- Sending Bitcoin (BTC) instead of Bitcoin Cash. They are different coins.
