Runway is an AI video and image generator. Its checkout takes cards and a long list of wallets through Stripe, but no crypto and no PayPal, and Runway sells no gift cards. This page covers Runway AI pricing, the ways you can pay for it, and the nearest alternatives you can buy with crypto.

The big change this year: Runway stopped selling its Unlimited plan on June 1, 2026 and replaced it with Max, at the same $95 a month. Its website has also moved from runwayml.com to runway.com. The prices below are the ones on runway.com on October 7, 2026.

EnterpriseContact sales—SSO, analytics and priority support

Prices are in US dollars, and Runway doesn’t publish UK or EU prices. Yearly billing is 20% off.

Runway plans run on credits. Gen-4.5 video uses 12 credits a second, so Standard’s 625 credits buy “52s of Gen-4.5, 104s of Gen-4 Turbo, or 78 Gen-4 Images (1080p)”. Standard and Pro credits reset each billing cycle, while Max rolls unused credits over for one month. Extra credits come in batches of at least 1,000 from the Plans & Billing page, and Runway says “Any additional credits you purchase never expire.”

Verified students and educators get 25% off subscription plans, up from 20%, checked through SheerID.

How Runway takes payment

Runway’s help center lists “Credit or debit card, Amazon Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Stripe Instant Bank Payments (U.S. only), Alipay, Cash App Pay, WeChat Pay”. It adds: “Not all payment methods are available in all locations.”

Payment methodAccepted?
Credit and debit cardsYes
Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon PayYes
Cash App Pay, Alipay, WeChat PayYes, where available
Bank paymentUS only, through Stripe Instant Bank Payments
PayPalNo
Crypto (Bitcoin, USDT and others)No
Gift cards or prepaid codesNo, only discount coupons
App Store (iPhone)Yes, Standard, Pro and Max in the Runway app
Google Play (Android)Yes, in-app purchases in the Runway app

Upgrades are prorated and start straight away. If you downgrade, the unused balance becomes credit toward your next cycle.

Can you pay for Runway with crypto?

No. Crypto isn’t on Runway’s list of payment methods, and we found no crypto option anywhere on its billing pages.

There are three legitimate options.

Subscribe in the iPhone app. The Runway: AI Image & Video app is iPhone only and sold by Runway AI, Inc. In the US App Store it sells Standard at $14.99 a month or $143.99 a year, Pro at $35.00 a month and Max at $95.00 a month. Credit packs run from 1,000 credits for $10.00 to 10,000 for $100.00. Apple charges your Apple Account balance before your card, though it notes that some subscriptions can’t be paid from balance.

The plan attaches to your Runway account, and the app says “your work syncs between your phone and your computer automatically.” Your web billing page will then say the plan is managed by Apple, and Runway support can’t change it. To switch to web billing later, cancel the Apple subscription first, then subscribe on the web.

Subscribe on Android through Google Play. Runway says plans bought in the app “are billed by Apple or Google”. Google Play lists in-app purchases from $7.49 to $899.99 per item, and you cancel in your device settings.

Use a crypto debit card. It works like any other card at checkout, so Runway sees an ordinary card payment. It can be declined for the same reasons as any other card, and the card issuer will ask for your ID.

What you shouldn’t do is buy a “Runway subscription”, top-up or year-long Max account from a third-party marketplace. Runway’s terms say “You may not share your Account, password, or API keys with anyone”, allow one account per platform, and ban selling or transferring any of its services.

Gift cards and paying for someone else

Runway doesn’t sell gift cards, gift subscriptions or prepaid codes. Its billing help has four articles, and the only codes it covers are discount coupons: “Runway offers various coupons to you to access features and get discounts on credits and plans.” The terms add that only one trial or promotional membership is available per user.

If you want to pay for other people, the Team plan covers groups of 2 to 9: $69 per seat a month, or $55 billed yearly, with 6,900 credits per seat pooled across the workspace. Teachers can get “up to 25% off for classes of 3 or more licenses.”
