Windsurf Pricing (Now Devin Desktop) and How to Pay: Crypto, PayPal and Gift Cards
Windsurf is now Devin Desktop. Pro is $20 a month and Max $200. Which payment methods it takes, why there’s no crypto or PayPal, and what to do instead.

Cognition AI, which bought Windsurf in 2025, renamed it on June 2, 2026, and Windsurf pricing now lives on devin.ai/pricing, where windsurf.com/pricing redirects. On payment, the short answer is that Windsurf takes cards and several wallets, but no crypto and no PayPal. We found no gift card and no app store route either.
Cognition’s FAQ says the rename kept the editor and the price: “It’s the same IDE, same editor, and has the same features,” and “Pricing is unchanged.” The plans below are the ones on devin.ai on October 7, 2026.

Prices are in US dollars. The pricing page shows no pound or euro prices and no yearly price. Pro and Max are single-user plans that “cannot be shared across multiple users.” The Pro quota covers Devin sessions, the Devin CLI and Devin Desktop. Until October 16, 2026, the SWE-2 model is free in Devin Desktop and the CLI.
Quotas are daily and weekly allowances, measured by how many tokens the model uses. Past the quota, extra usage “is billed at API list prices for the model you’re using.” You pay for it with prepaid on-demand credits, which roll over and never expire.
Prices changed before the rename. On March 19, 2026 Windsurf swapped credits for quotas, raised Pro from $15 to $20 a month and Teams seats from $30 to $40, and added Max at $200. If you were already on Pro at $15 or Teams at $30, you keep that price indefinitely.
How Windsurf takes payment
Cognition’s docs list the methods: “We accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Cash App Pay, Google Pay, Link, WeChat Pay, and Alipay.” Payments run through Stripe, and you manage your card in Stripe’s customer portal, opened from your plan settings at app.devin.ai. The methods shown at checkout depend on your region.

Can you pay for Windsurf with crypto?
No. Cognition has no crypto processor, coin list or wallet address. It has been asked for: a thread on r/windsurf is titled “Make USDC and other digital payments available”. Crypto still isn’t on Cognition’s list.
There’s no app store route either. There’s no Windsurf or Devin app on the App Store, devin.ai/ios is only a waitlist for “Devin Mobile,” and we found none on Google Play. That leaves two honest options.
Use a crypto debit card. Cards from crypto exchanges sell your coins at the moment you pay, and Stripe sees an ordinary card. They can be declined for the same reasons as any other card, and the card issuer will ask for your ID. If yours is refused, our guide to declined cards on AI subscriptions covers the usual causes.
Move GPT usage onto a ChatGPT plan. If you have ChatGPT Plus or Pro, you can link it to Devin and have “the GPT model portion of your sessions billed to your ChatGPT plan instead of your Devin quota.” It only works with a paid Pro, Max or Teams plan, so you still need a Devin subscription. But ChatGPT Plus is something you can pay for with crypto here.
What you shouldn’t do is buy a “Windsurf account” from an account marketplace. Those are shared or resold logins. Cognition’s terms give each customer a “non-transferable right” limited to “you and your Authorized Users,” so those accounts break the terms.
Gift cards and paying for someone else
We found no Windsurf or Devin gift card, gift subscription or prepaid code on windsurf.com, devin.ai or Cognition’s docs. On-demand credits can only be topped up on your own account. A “Windsurf gift card” sold elsewhere isn’t a product Cognition offers.
The legitimate way to pay for other people is a Teams plan. The admin pays the $80 team fee plus $40 a month for each full seat and invites the members, and flex seats cost nothing but draw on the team’s shared credits.
Before you pay, know the refund rule. Cognition’s terms say “all payments are non-refundable” except where the terms or the law say otherwise, and its docs add that “you can request a refund before using the subscription if you change your mind.” You can cancel any time and keep access until the end of the billing period. Free trials come up now and then, but not for anyone who has used Devin, Windsurf or Codeium before.

What happened to Windsurf?
