Proton Lumo Pricing: Lumo Plus Plans and How to Pay with Bitcoin
Lumo Plus costs $12.99 a month or $119.88 a year. How to pay for Proton Lumo with Bitcoin, a Proton gift card, cash, PayPal or the app stores.
Proton Lumo accepts crypto on its own checkout, so we don’t resell it or add a fee. Pay on its site with your own account.
Go to lumo.proton.me ↗Proton Lumo takes Bitcoin. Proton says you can pay for “any Proton subscription” with Bitcoin, and Lumo Plus is an ordinary Proton plan. It has to be on-chain BTC, it isn’t offered when you first sign up, and it never renews on its own. Proton also takes cash, bank transfer and its own gift cards.
The Proton Lumo pricing below comes from Proton’s checkout data on October 7, 2026, with no promotion running. The main 2026 change was Lumo 2.0 on June 30, which added image generation, Memory, Projects and custom Lumos. We found no change to the Lumo Plus price this year. We don’t sell Lumo and take no cut.

How to pay for Lumo Plus with Bitcoin
- Create a free Proton account on Proton’s website. Don’t pick a paid plan yet.
- Open Settings → All settings.
- Click “Compare all plans,” choose Lumo Plus, the currency and the length, then select the plan.
- Go to Payment details and select Bitcoin. You’ll see a QR code, a BTC address and the exact amount due.
- Send the payment. Your account is upgraded right away, and full verification “can take up to 24 hours.”
We didn’t run a live Lumo Plus checkout ourselves. Proton’s Bitcoin page covers every subscription, and Lumo Plus sits in the same plan list as the rest.
Network. The Bitcoin network only. Proton doesn’t support Lightning, Ethereum-based tokens, Monero or TRC-20 USDT.
No auto-renewal. “It’s not possible to pay for your subscription automatically using Bitcoin.” Send each payment at least 24 hours before your bill is due. Choosing 12 months keeps it to one payment a year.
A fresh address every time. Proton warns that payments to an address you’ve used before “will not be recognized.” Always scan the new QR code.
Overpaying. Any extra becomes account credit, and credit from Bitcoin “never expires.” Credit only pays bills in the same currency.
Processor and ID. Proton names no outside processor, and its Bitcoin page mentions no ID checks and no minimum.
Refunds. Proton’s terms give a full refund if you cancel within 30 days of your first purchase, once per user, to the original payment method. Cash and bank-transfer payments aren’t refundable. We couldn’t find how Proton handles that for a Bitcoin payment.

Things to know
Gift cards. Proton sells digital gift cards for $20, $50 and $100 at shop.proton.me. The code becomes Proton credit that can pay for any plan, Lumo Plus included: the recipient enters it under Settings → Subscription → Gift code. The shop takes cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay, not crypto. A dollar card pays a plan billed in dollars. Buy only from shop.proton.me, because Proton warns about fake coupons.
Family plans. On Duo, Family or Visionary, a Lumo Plus add-on can cover members up to the plan’s normal limit: up to 2 on Duo and up to 6 on Family or Visionary.
Who runs it. Lumo’s site says it is “owned by a Swiss nonprofit” and is “a European service subject to GDPR.”
